Amazon.com Product Description The Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 DG Macro Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras is a telephoto lens that offers excellent cost performance and is optimized for use with digital SLR cameras. Capable of macro photography, this lens has a 1:2 maximum close-up magnification at the 300 millimeter focal length. It's the ideal high performance lens for portraits, sports photography, nature photography, and other types of photography that frequently use the telephoto range. The lens features a switch for changeover to macro photography at focal lengths between 200 millimeters and 300 millimeters, with a maximum close-up magnification from 1:2.9 to 1:2. The multi-layer lens coating and lens design reduce flare and ghosting, which is a common problem with digital cameras, and it also creates an optimum color balance through the entire zoom range. The minimum focusing distance is 59 inches at all zoom settings. The lens features a switch for changeover to macro photography at focal lengths between 200 millimeters and 300 millimeters with a maximum close-up magnification. Without changing the distance between camera and subject, you can change the shooting magnification.
Product Description Sigma DG lenses are large-aperture lenses with wide angles and short minimum focusing distances. With an abundance of peripheral illumination, they are ideal lenses for Digital SLR Cameras whilst retaining suitability for traditional 35mm SLRs.

Decent Zoom Lens November 2, 2008 Kyle Seis (Antigo, WI USA) This lens is fairly good for it's low price tag. It has quite a bit of zoom range, which is the main reason I bought it. It is rather slow, but can generally get the job done. I used this lens to shoot a high school soccer game and football game for the school newspaper and yearbook. I got some great soccer results, and got some decent football shots from the students section at night. If you are looking for a low priced zoom lens, try this one out.
Great, Great, Great! October 30, 2008 Lisandro Carcamo (Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina) I am so happy with this product, that people might think that I am the owner of Sigma! The quality of this lens is wonderful. Its price very accessible, and it is very useful! Auto Focus is fast and accurate and the lens is sturdy and comfortable. With it you can take pictures and middle and long distances! Along with the 18mm-55mm lens that I already have, is an ideal complement for almost any occasion. I'm very very very happy! It is a purchase that, not only I do not regret, but I would recommend to anyone!
Nice lens October 15, 2008 Giles R. Holbrow (Boston) I just got this, and so far I am very satisfied. I wish the aperture was a little better, but I can't complain for the price. Overall, it is very good deal, and I would recommend it to anyone who can't afford a faster lens.
Great lens at the right price September 30, 2008 R. Brady (Syracuse, NY) I'm not a photographic expert, but this lens meets my needs and was at a good price. Well built not cheap feeling or looking. Works well with the Canon Rebel Digital that I have. Is a good addition to the standard lens that came with the camera.
nice lens September 23, 2008 Michael T. Frye I purchased the lens to take sports pics of my kids. The lens does well for this, but there are times when I would like it to be a little quicker.
