Product Description Film, as well as video, often exhibits a greater sensitivity to what is to us invisible, ultraviolet light. This is most often outdoors, especially at high altitudes, where the UV-absorbing atmosphere is thinner; and over long distances, such as marine scenes. It can show up as a bluish color cast with color film, or it can cause a low-contrast haze that diminishes details, especially when viewing far-away objects, in either color or black-and-white. Ultraviolet filters absorb UV light generally without affecting light in the visible region. It is important to distinguish between UV-generated haze and that of air-borne particles, such as smog. The latter is made up of opaque matter that absorbs visible light as well as UV, and will not be appreciably removed by a UV filter. The UV Protector shields lens from dust, moisture, scratches, and breakage.
Amazon.com Product Description Protects lenses from dust, moisture, scratches, and other damage. These filters can be kept on the camera at all times.

Useful filter, well packaged December 24, 2008 Francisco Solareslarrave (DeKalb, IL) How can one review a filter like this one? It's just a very plain, simple filter... that will not produce flare or make light bounce within the front element and the back of the filter. That alone merits mention: buy this filter for your lenses with a 77mm diameter front because it will do what it's supposed to do.
Insurance Filter December 17, 2008 Charles O. Bowen (Waycross, GA USA) Does just what it's supposed to do, protect the front lens of my RATHER EXPENSIVE ( but marvelous ) Canon ef 70-200mm f2.8L IS lens. I always put a UV filter on a new lens right out of the box and LEAVE IT ALONE. Cheapest lens insurance you can buy.
Great deal November 20, 2008 S. Pietri (TX) It is not the best UV filter you can buy, but definitely good value for the money. I have it mounted on my tokina 11-16/2.8 to protect my investment. So far I removed it only once when it was causing a flare that I did not want in the picture. Definitely a must have.
Great for the Price November 18, 2008 T. Swanson (Texas) For 70$ or so you get three 77mm NEW Name Brand Lenses. Great buy for the money. They shoot clear pics.
Two filters don't fit the Canon 24-105 L Series November 16, 2008 B. Liu (NY, NY) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
The UV and Color filters touch the glass of the lens when screwed onto the lens. Beware that these filters DO NOT fit the Canon 24-105 Lens. I have yet to buy new filters, but I suspect the only ones that will fit are the Canon brand filters.
